Recall Those Memories With a Good Cup of Coffee

That is, if you’re a coffee drinker.

I can’t wait to get up in the morning to drink my first cup of coffee. It is comforting, soothing, and hot. Coffee has to be hot! I hate cold stuff early in the morning. Of course, there is the caffeine-fix which is another story. If you’re a coffee drinker, then you know what I’m talking about.

I also recall certain life events associated with coffee. The first, was a job I had in Northeast Ohio working in the Aid to Dependent Children unit. I started this job in the blistering wintertime, snow, ice, and freezing temperatures Of course, this included driving on black ice just to make it to work. A real nail-biter.

Unfortunately, at the time I hated the smell of coffee; I was not a coffee drinker. Something odd happened. The big metal coffee pot at work was always brewing first thing in the morning next to my desk. The aroma finally got to me, in a good way! I started a lifetime love for coffee.

The second memory I love to associate coffee is with the birth of my first daughter. I was only in my first trimester of pregnancy when I was ordered on bed rest for a few days. My husband surprised me with a new coffee pot, a giant can of Folgers, and some great Danish rolls. Delicious! Great way to rest and enjoy a good cup of that…
